What to Expect

- During Your Massage Session

On your first visit please arrive about 10 minutes early to fill out a brief intake form with personal & health history questions that will ensure your therapist is caring for your needs without endangering your health to the extent possible. This is followed by a relaxed verbal exchange to define your specific goals for care. Your therapist will leave the room & allow you to disrobe(undress) to your level of comfort. Please remember that the more you remove, the easier it will be for your therapist to access your musculature. Yet, your comfort comes first. Your therapist will adjust as necessary to make sure you feel comfortable & safe.

Next you will get underneath the linens on the treatment table. Your therapist will then knock gently & ask if she may re-enter. Because comfort is of utmost concern to your therapist, she strongly encourages open communication throughout the session. If the pressure is too intense or not strong enough, she wants & needs to know. If the temperature is uncomfortable, she wants to know. If the music is not pleasing, she wants to know. Your therapist wants you to feel comfortable enough to speak up because after all, she works for you. Ultimately, massage becomes less effective & obviously less enjoyable the more tense & uncomfortable you feel. Do yourself a favor and speak up!

Once the massage session is completed your therapist will leave the room to allow you to get dressed. Prior to leaving she will have instructed you to take a moment to get up slowly due to possible dizziness that may result from the physiological changes having taken place during the massage combined with the horizontal positioning for an extended period of time. Upon your exit, your therapist will greet you with water & then instruct you to continue to hydrate well for the next 24 hours.

Each session will begin with your goals for the session being clearly defined. Thereafter, you will receive consistent, thoughtful, tailored care.
